The Honorable Judge Rayes was born in Texas and shortly after high School she started her law career by attending University of Texas at San Antonio where she acquired a B.A. in Law in 1977. She was admitted to the Bar in 1980 after receiving J.D. with Honor's at St. Mary's University of SA. In 1993 she became a member of the John M. Harlan Society of St. Mary's University School of Law and attended Attorney's Mediation Institute. She sits on the Grievance Committee for District 12-C and her commitment to her community continues as Atascosa County Judicial District Judge and Board Trustee for Camino Real.

 Judge Arnulfo C. Luna Vice Chairperson |
Judge Arnulfo C. Luna is a graduate of Pearsall High School. Directly after graduating he became a family man and married his high school sweetheart Carmen Vinton Guerra. They have been married for 37 years and have three children, Ernie, Randy and Brandie, Five granddaughters and three grandsons. Arnulfo Luna worked for Life Insurance Co. for 15 years until 1991 when he ran and won the Office of Justice of the Peace for Precinct #3. He was appointed Municipal Judge in 2005 for the City of Pearsall where he was first introduced to the MHMR Center through the county commitments and has continued as Justice of the Peace for Precinct #3 for the past 16 years. His commitment to his community continues as the Frio County representative on the Board of Trustees for Camino Real.

 Judge Alfred Pawelek Treasurer Texas Council Board Representative |
Judge Pawelek presided as the County Judge for Karnes County for more than seven years and has served on the county Jaycees, Chambers of Commerce, church and civic organizations, as well as on the Executive Board of the Texas Drive In Theatre Association. During his tenure as County Judge, a 500 bed Detention Center was built creating 150 new jobs at no cost to the county. Judge Pawelek became a self-made business man at age 19 by building the Midway Drive In Theatre. In the coming years, he aspires to build some bed and breakfast cottages in the village of Panna Maria, Texas, where he was born and raised, with the hope of preserving the Polish heritage.

Alma Sendejo received a B.S. in Teaching in 1986. She begun her career by working with 10 & 11 year old Special Education students for the next two years. She served as a board member at Casitas Cash for Disabled Citizens from Jan. 2000—July 2005. In July 2002 to August 2005 she also served on the Economic Development Corporation for Crystal City. Currently she continues her work as a counselor for the Crystal City Independent School District in the Special Education Department serving students from Kindergarten thru 12th grade who are emotionally disturbed and/or who have learning disabilities. Ms. Sendejo is a member of the Texas Counseling Association. She is married to Frailan Sendejo and they have two children, Yvonne and Frailan Sendejo III. Her commitment to her community continues as the Zavala County representative where she was elected Secretary of the Board of Trustees for Camino Real.

 Judge Joel Rodriguez Trustee |
Judge Joel Rodriguez, Jr. resides in Cotulla, Texas. He attended Texas A&I University and graduated with a BBA in Accounting. Judge Rodriguez' employment history includes seven years with the State Comptroller (1987 thru 1994), he served as the County Treasurer (1995 thru 2002), and currently, Judge Rodriguez resides as the County Judge in LaSalle County and has done so since 2003). Judge Rodriguez also currently serves as First Vice President of the Middle Rio Grande Development Council and also serves as the Director of the Area Agency on Aging. His commitment to his community continues as the LaSalle County representative on the Camino Real Community Services Board of Trustees. Judge Rodriguez was elected and served as a Board Trustee from September 2002 thru August 2004. He is again serving as a Trustee for the term of September 2010 thru August 2012. On a personal note, Judge Rodriguez has a daughter by the name of Clarissa.

 Roberto Ruiz Trustee |
Roberto Ruiz is a graduate from Del Mar Junior College-AA, Texas A&M Kingsville-BS, and Sul Ross State University-Master's in Education. Mr. Ruiz served with the U.S. Marine Corps and is a Vietnam Veteran. He is a retired high school teacher and has been active with the American Cancer Society, Knights of Columbus, Texas State Teachers Association/National Education Association and is an officer of the VFW Post 8562. Through the South West Texas Junior College, he has been a teacher and supervisor of the Adult Basic Education program in Eagle Pass. He was elected Commissioner Precinct 4, Maverick County, 1991-1998. Mr. Ruiz is a member of Winter Garden Housing Finance Program. Currently Mr. Ruiz is a member of the Supervisory Committee of the Border Federal Credit Union. Also he is an advisor to a bi-national advisory board, Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior, through the Mexican Consulate in Eagle Pass. Currently he serves as administrative assistant to Maverick County Judge David Saucedo.

On February 15, 2002, Ramos was sworn in as the Trustee representative for Dimmit County. A long time resident of Carrizo Springs, Ramos graduated from Carrizo Springs High School and has been a city employee for many years. His interest in serving on the Board of Trustees for Camino Real is to advocate on behalf of persons with disabilities. His personal experience with a family member with disabilities prepares him well for this role. An active member of his community, he is a member of the Optimist Club and the Texas Animal Control Association. Carlos and his wife Melinda, have three children, Viviana, Victor and Cassandra. As a supportive parent he assists with the Soccer League, Girl Scouts and is involved with church activities.

Judge James Teal is a Texas native, who was born in San Antonio and raised in Tilden. Judge Teal is a family man who has been married to his sweetheart, Sheri, for 25 years. He has two children, one who is currently in college and one who graduated from college. He is a graduate from McMullen High School and attended Southwest Texas State University. Judge Teal spent twenty-six (26) years in the natural gas business. He has spent many years serving his community, which includes serving 16 years on the school board and also served as President on the McMullen County Emergency Services Board. In addition, Judge Teal is a Charter Member of the Coastal Bend Workforce Development Board. His commitment to his community continues as he serves as County Judge for McMullen County, when he was elected on January 1, 2011. Judge Teal was installed as a Trustee of the Camino Real Community Services Board of Directors in February 2011.

 JoAnn Brechtel Trustee Alternate Texas Council Board Representative |
Proudly serving Wilson County, Jo Ann Brechtel is a resident of Wilson county and the Commissioner's Court appointee to the Camino Real Board of Trustees as of August 2009. This appointment was based on Jo Ann's extensive experience in the field of Mental Health Services and the strong advocacy she has performed for persons that are aged and disabled. She obtained a Masters Degree in Social Work and began her career at the San Antonio State Hospital in 1974. She worked for Dallas County MHMR and developed the Elder Mental Health Program as well as developing the first Alzheimer's family support group. She also served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at the University of Texas Health Science Center where she taught Mental Health Topics on Aging. In 1985, Jo Ann received special recognition in Who's Who Woman of the Year. She returned to San Antonio State Hospital Community Services Division and supervised the Case Management Unit. At Kerrville State Hospital Jo Ann was the Director of Quality Management. Most recently Jo Ann has held the position of Director of Social Services for the Floresville ISD and works at the Stockdale Nursing Home. As a long time member of the Wilson County Mental Health Advisory Board, Jo Ann is very familiar with the mission of Camino Real. Her passion for advocating on behalf of persons with Mental Illness makes her an ideal Board Member.
